Quriyat Dam

While we were staying in Muscat we drove south about an hour to find this Wadi that has been dammed up to prevent flooding in the nearby villages. The views were spectacular the whole drive there (like much of Oman), and the dam itself was very impressive.

 This is the mostly dried-up river bed thanks to the dam.

 

This is on the lake side of the dam. There is even a nice little park lakeside. I'm sure the water helps to keep the area cooler in the crazy hot summers.
